Description
Buku Sayisa Washing Station is located in the highlands of Guji, Ethiopia, at elevations of 2,100–2,350 meters above sea level, an ideal environment for producing dense, high-quality coffee. Named after an Amharic phrase meaning “blessed valley,” the station works with around 450 smallholder farmers growing indigenous Ethiopian Arabica varieties, preserving the region’s rich coffee heritage while delivering consistent specialty-grade lots.
Both washed and natural coffees are produced at Buku Sayisa. Washed lots are pulped and fermented under water for 36–72 hours before being dried on raised beds for 7–10 days, while natural lots are dried as whole cherries for 12–15 days to ensure controlled fermentation. The resulting coffees are vibrant and expressive, often showcasing peach-like sweetness, floral notes such as jasmine and lavender, and a honeyed finish, making Buku Sayisa a distinctive and reliable choice for the specialty coffee market.
